Social awareness poster

I decided to do my poster on human trafficking Which is basically modern day slavery.  I wanted to show that the victims cannot always speak up for themselves, to do this I decided to remove the girl's mouth and replace with a price.  I also to show some of the pain the victims go through, seeing as many endure physical abuse I decided a black eye would do and would be an efficient way to grab people's attention. Next I wanted to show that to human traffickers their victims are not people but products in that spirit I decided  to make my poster somewhat as a for sale poster.  I also wanted a Number because people love to have statistics, I knew that the estimated number of human trafficking victims world wide is 27 million form previous volunteer work so i decided to use that.  The last thing that I needed to do is get people to do something so I wrote  "will YOU be their voice across the bottom so that if they decided to  ignore the poster they would have to stare my supposed victim in the face well doing so.

The first thing I needed to do was give the girl in the photograph a bruise.  I found an awesome tutorial that helped me do exactly that using a soft brush, the burn tool, and the sponge tool.  Click here for that tutorial.
